Aries New Moon Solar Eclipse

The solar Eclipse on April 8th finishes off this springs eclipse season.  It will continue this fall with a Libra Solar Eclipse on October 2nd. Eclipses happen in pairs, a lunar and solar for each eclipse season that happens twice a year (on average anyway, we had 6 during the cancer/cap axis in 2018)  This fall we begin the shift into the Pisces/Virgo eclipse axis with a Lunar Eclipse in Pisces September 17, but we’ll cover that when the time comes. Just for clarity, here are the 2023-2025 eclipses with Aries/libra in bold:

The Solar Eclipse happens Monday April 8th at 2:20 pm EST.  We’re lucky enough to be able to have the path of totality run through the united states.  Theres so much lore that comes with eclipses, rabbit holes of eclipse families and Saros cycles are fascinating.  Theres also the superstitions about ancients hiding inside during eclipses and all the speculation of why.  To sum it all up, fate is at work and we have to surrender to the happening. These times are woven into our algorithm for readjustments, sometimes catastrophic sometimes not, to put us back into alignment with out soul path.

Relationships have been put on blast the past few years because Venus being ruler of current south node, Libra, and previous axis north node of Taurus.  (The nodes are just mathematic points between the sun and moon and they move in retrograde fashion in our charts)

Again when working with the eclipse axis we look at the nodal rulers, for Libra/Aries we are working with Venus and Mars.  During this New moon solar eclipse Venus will be in Aries and Mars is in Pisces.  Since it is a New Moon North Node eclipse, Sun and Moon both in Aries, Mars is the ruler of the eclipse. New moons have the new start energy, and on the NN its a push forward and release of the past.

The eclipse is also exactly conjunct Chiron, astroid coined the Wounded Healer, with Chiron/Sun/Moon all at 19*24” ruled by Mars in Pisces.  I could speak about this for hours but I’m going to try to keep it simple and to the point.  This eclipse is bringing up a culmination for ending and beginnings.  It’s pushing us forward, demanding we evolve.  Especially with mercury rx in Aries during the eclipse, how can we be true to ourselves and speak up for ourselves and be ok with not being received as we expected?  How can we hold space to allow ourselves to have to courage speak even if others aren’t really listening? Thats Pisces denial with the Libra south node, hearing only what we want to hear. We all have the experience of restraining and holding ourselves back to maintain relationships and secure our known place in the world. This eclipse is prodding us to speak up, make moves and get unstuck.  At first it might feel scary or reckless and unsettling but the energy is there for us to heckin wake up and participate in our life journey.

The eclipse conjunct Chiron is initiation into healing our Aries wounds, putting ourself out there even though theres a chance we won’t be accepted.  Speaking up even though it’s scary, making the choice without knowing the outcome, saying yes to the unknown experience, taking the lead when you’re usually the follower, going out when you’d rather stay safe at home. With south node in Libra, it’s past life stuff boiling up to be reworked.  Past relationship dynamic and attachments are reemerging to be handled differently. Mercury rx, take time to ponder the how’s and the why’s are what you’re doing and whats happening.  We missed something the first time around, mercury flew through Aries and now we have the opportunity to slow down and think things through more carefully, give things a second look. Chiron is our deepest wounding, where we feel wrong and unfit and insufficient, its also where we can wound others.  It’s also where we can initiate our own healing which can set us up to help heal others. That being said, this eclipse is going to trigger our healing journey. That implies outside stimulus, so be aware and be conscious so you can work with the trigger rather than projecting issues onto others and falling into a victim mentality. 

This eclipse is just such a beautiful opportunity for us all to do better, choose new ways of relating to ourselves and other, new ways of experiencing relationships to ourselves and others.  I have Chiron in cancer in the 2nd house, my wounding is of emotional and physical safety and security. This eclipse is in my 11th house, I’m being offered an opportunity to grow out of that need for constant comfort and be a leader (Aries) in my community (11th house) even though Im insecure and afraid I wont be received well.

The Sabian symbol for 20* Aries is- A young Girl Feeding Birds In Winter- Seeing Life As A Constant Opportunity To Experience Love- Life’s very harshness is what enables us to learn of love’s unfathomable depths. This is beautiful as Mars in Pisces rules the eclipse, Mars is our desires and Pisces is unconditional love. When we release expectations (and fears) of outcome  we can really enjoy being in the moment of each experience.  While also holding space for the differences of all our experiences, having compassion.

Saros Cycle-8 North-“Inventiveness and flashes of genius are the hallmark of this Saros Series.  The individual will have intuitive leaps, insights, ideas, vision or vivid dreams. This new-found inspiration will pull the person away from his or her known social life or relationships, causing strain in personal life.  This is a time when we need to be free, if only for a few weeks.”- This feels right on track too, energy blessing us with the opportunity to become and grow!

Im just obsessed with eclipses, as scary as change can be (I’m a taurus so believe me I personally know how uncomfortable the unknown is) its just exhilarating to accept and work with the change at play when you have faith in the algorithm of this human experience. 

This North Node eclipse is offering us all an opportunity to evolve, and take charge of our destiny and this incarnation.  Aries is the archetype of choice, you have the personal power to choose to grow, to work with this magical portal of evolution.  Free will is your choice of attitude, will you choose to be the victim or will you choose acceptance.  This eclipse is a cosmic call to action, to approach life with passion, to take charge of our lives and our relationships, to speak our truth, to be unapologetically ourselves, to take the lead in our souls evolutionary journey! Its time to become!!
